What is an open mic?
An open mic is a recurring venue event where any performer can sign up for a short slot — typically two or three songs — and play their own material.
Sign-up is usually first come, first served, either on a sheet at the door or online in advance. The host manages the running order and keeps slots to time.
Open mics are one way many independent rooms find acts they later book.
