Open mic and open jam sign-up software

Open mic software replaces the paper clipboard with a sign-up list performers can join from their phones. BANDANA runs recurring open mics, open jams, and hybrid nights: sessions generate on a schedule, performers sign up and submit songs, and the host manages the running order live.

Recurring open mic and jam nights generate themselves week to week.

What is the difference between an open mic and an open jam?

An open mic gives each performer their own short slot. An open jam mixes different players into ad-hoc groupings around a song from a shared songbook that everyone can add to. BANDANA supports both, plus a hybrid night that does some of each.

    How do recurring sign-ups work?

A recurring session schedule generates future dates automatically. Sign-ups open ahead of the night and lock on a window you set in fifteen-minute increments, with per-session overrides when one week needs to be different.

    • Recurring sessions generated ahead of time
    • Sign-up lock window in fifteen-minute increments
    • Per-session overrides for attendee limits and settings
    • Attendee limits inherited from the parent jam's default

    Can performers submit songs?

Yes. Performers add songs to the night's songbook, including requesting specific instruments so other players can fill in around them. Anonymous sign-ups can add songs and remove their own. There is also an AI song lookup feature that can pull cover suggestions into the songbook.

Does BANDANA support a house band or live band karaoke?

Yes. Jam sessions support house band capability and a play-with-others flow, so a singer can pick a song and get backed by whoever is on stage — the live-band-karaoke format many rooms run on a weeknight.

    Who runs the night?

Venue hosts manage sessions. Followers of a jam get a lighter set of permissions, and hosts can promote regulars into host roles for the nights they cover.

    Common questions

Do performers need to install an app?
No. Sign-up works anonymously in a mobile browser. There is an iOS app for people who want one.
Can I limit how many performers sign up?
Yes. Set a default attendee limit for the night; new sessions inherit it, and individual sessions can override it.
Can I stop sign-ups at a certain time?
Yes. Set a lock window in fifteen-minute increments before the session starts.
